How ties should affect your road reading.

Newer players often overreact to ties. In most road systems, ties matter, but they do not take over the whole read. They are usually markers on the existing result, not a fresh main-road opinion by themselves.

Three calm tie rules

Rule 1: A tie is not a side change.It usually decorates the existing road result rather than starting a whole new Big Road circle.

Rule 2: Ties can interrupt your emotion more than the structure.They can make a shoe feel awkward even when the main geometry is still intact.

Rule 3: Multiple ties deserve attention, not panic.Repeated ties can change pace and mood, but they still need to be read in context with the main road.

What board markers are doing

Markers exist to preserve the main structural story while still recording special events. The purpose is to avoid letting one tie or one side note overwrite the entire geometry of the shoe.
